Detail Information: When we started PEAK, this was our first project and what we built the company around. We set out to make a solid, all around off-road vehicle but as the Overland Craze was starting up, we got sucked in.
Our base vehicle was a 2016 Chevy Colorado Z71 Duramax. We ordered this truck for the engine, which was the first mid size truck to feature a diesel. While it wasn’t a race truck by any means, it came with 380tq from the factory and towed 7,700lbs.
This truck has been through many phases starting as Eibach’s 2017 SEMA feature vehicle. We were given the reigns to work with Eibach to design a fully built, fully capable, off road vehicle to display. Given the nature of SEMA, we wanted to do things a little differently especially since the entire point of the show is to showcase new products. We wanted to display a truck that ANYONE could build; afterall, what is the point of showing one off products or parts if no one can purchase them.
After the success of SEMA, and the growing demand of overland adventure, we decided to shift focus and build the truck again for Overland Expo 2018. In order to get this done, we turned to some of our long time partners to assist in development. First off, we founded PEAK around this truck and launched our own coilover featured on this truck. Other suspension components included our diff drop and tie rod sleeves, Dirt King Boxed Upper Control Arms, and our own 1” rear block. This gave us the height and clearance we needed for 33×11.5 Falken Wildpeak MT wrapped around 17” Fifteen TurbomacHD wheels in matte black.
Protection came from Relentless Fabrication in the form of their brand new Defender bumper, a first for the Z71, and also their High Clearance Rear Bumper, a first ever for the Colorado platform. These bumpers gave us the protection this truck needed and provisions for lighting and winch, which included a 40” KC Flex Lightbar, KC G34 Fog lights and a Warn VR10S winch. KC also provided an Mrack and KC Pro6 light bar with C Series perimeter lighting as well as their all new LED Multifunction Chase bar.
To top off this build, we used a Rago Fabrication rear bed molle panel to mount a full size spare, Pro Eagle 2 Ton Jack, and our recovery equipment. We also added the Softtopper for protection and functionality.
